The roots of Expert started in 1966 with James L. Skinner, a small customs broker in the rural border town of Emerson Manitoba. Mr Skinner started out as a one-man show with entries being completed manually and taken personally to CBSA daily in order to ensure their accuracy and timely submission. It is this type of personalized services that our valued client base still enjoys today.

Just a few years earlier in 1963 Louie Tolaini had the vision and courage to start TransX in Virden, Manitoba. As things progressed quickly for TransX the need for a strong partner at the Emerson border crossing became a high demand. With a small town connection and a passion for people and service a relationship was quickly developed that was built on trust and respect. It was no surprise to many that in 1992 Louie officially purchased the James L Skinner brokerage firm and Expert Customs Brokers was born as an official member of the TransX Group of Companies. In 2016 Expert proudly celebrated our 50th anniversary originating birthday that further extended to 2017 as we celebrated our 25th anniversary as part of the TransX Group of Companies.
